About LewisWorks

Our Mission
At LewisWorks, our mission is to provide an economical set of computer-based math practice tools that parents and teachers can provide their elementary school students to practice learning facts. We believe that all learning starts with a solid foundation in the facts, and that the facts must become second nature in order to build more complex concepts upon them. The Math Practice Tool Chest is an intuitive program designed to help students practice and solidify math facts. The Tool Chest employs a "no nonsense" approach, with no characters or music to detract from math lessons. Yet, its colorful interface keeps elementary students interested.

We also want to make a difference in the world - by providing a means for students to become proficient in mathematics.  We could have gone out and designed games, but we wanted to make things that will help build a foundation for important skills later in life.  Ultimately, the skills practiced and mastered with these tools will translate into higher scores on the standardized tests our states mandate.

Our History
LewisWorks was founded in 2000 when its founder decided that there needed to be inexpensive math practice tools for elementary school students to use that generated completely random problems.  He had heard from more than one teacher that students were able to memorize the first few lines of the practice sheet pages they had been copying and using multiple times.

By developing a tool that randomly generated math problems for his kids to practice, the Math Practice Tool Chest was born.  Since then, the Tool Chest has been sold to elementary school students through backpack flyers and through sales on this website.

Where We're Going...
There are a LOT of computer-based math practice tools yet to be developed and made available to the parents and teachers out there that need them.  LewisWorks is currently developing "Working with Time", "Working with Decimals", and "Working with Negative Numbers".  But there is so much more to do, we're just getting started.  We're really excited about getting into Shapes and Geometry, and Beginning Algebra.  We'd even like to get into Trigonometry and Advanced Algebra.  Older students need to practice those skills as well.  The sky's the limit!
